Happy Mother's Day!

Just over 4 months ago, I joined what I fondly call the "Mom's Club"- being a Mom to Colin makes me so happy, every day I fall more in love with him.

It's been a bumpy road to get to this blissful Mom state- I've been MIA from this blog since January, and ALOT has happened since then. I will start blogging more soon after the end of May, which is my last days at work...yes I quit my job to be a SAHM, the hardest but best job in the world!

I never realized until I became one myself what being a Mom really is all about- I'm so thankful to have my great Mom to help me along on this journey.

Happy Mother's Day!

Colin Kenneth Tummel

Colin is now 17 days old! He was born on December 30th at 18:17pm weighing 8lbs .6oz , 21 inches long at 18:17pm..
Our lives have changed so much over the last 17 days, here is what we've been up to:
After 4 nights in the hospital we came home to Ybor. Our days our filled with what you would expect- feedings, diaper changes, sleeping...repeat!
Evan was home with me the first week, thank god! He has been AMAZING at taking care of Colin- no easy task.
I sadly had a lot of trouble breastfeeding. After much trying and tears, I gave up and have been pumping my breast milk around the clock to give to Colin via the bottle. When I was pregnant, I thought breastfeeding would come naturally and would be easy. Boy was I wrong. But, I've found an alternative that has worked so far for our family. I actually do like having Colin on a bottle as this takes all the responsiblity of feeding him off my shoulders and allows Evan and other family members to also feed him. I hope to be able to do this at least a month and if I have to switch to formula after that so be it. My mantra is Happy Mom, Happy Baby.
On advisement from our pediatrician, we are not supposed to take Colin anywhere that has big crowds the first 2 months. This is hard with our active lifestyles, but so far Colin has made trips to the park, to my Mom and Dad's houses, to my Dad's office for Thursday lunch, and yesterday we took him to a restaurant- we sat outside and no one else was around us so I felt ok with it!After being cooped up in my house for the majority of the last 2 weeks,it also made me feel a bit normal- sitting outside at one of our new fav. restaurants eating and drinking a beer under the Saturday sun.
There is so much more to tell but I'll stop here.We are up for visitors now, so please call or email me to come by and meet our sweet little man!
